Mr. Hartweg is experienced in assisting clients with their estate planning needs and in handling their estate administration needs.  Mr. Hartweg also advises clients on the formation of business entities including corporations, not for profit corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships.  He has an extensive background in representing clients in complex sales and purchases of businesses. His practice also includes representing buyers and sellers of commercial real estate.


Mr. Hartweg was born in 1942 in Keokuk, Iowa.  He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois in 1964 and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in 1965.  In 1968, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Law and began the private practice of law that same year in Bloomington.  He has practiced continuously in Bloomington from 1968 to the present.  He has been admitted to practice in Illinois and in federal courts.  He was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1978. 


Mr. Hartweg has been actively engaged in professional associations throughout his legal career.  He is a member of the McLean County Bar Association and served as its president in 2008.  He was selected by the McLean County Bar Association in 1999 for the Lincoln Award of Excellence.  Currently, he is a member of the Bar's Code of Ethics Committee.  He also is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and has been active as a representative to the ISBA Assembly and as a member of various ISBA committees.  He is a Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation.

During his legal career, Mr. Hartweg has been active in many community activities.  He is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he has served on many church committees as well as acting as a trustee of the St. Johns Lutheran Church Charitable Trust.  He has been an active member of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce, acting as that organization's president in 1999.  He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation and served as the President of this Board from 2005 to 2009.  He presently is a member of the Community Cancer Center's Board of Governors and is serving currently as that Board's President.
